Year 9 Students Engage in Environmental Solutions Webinar

On 25 July, our Year 9 students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a webinar focused on actionable environmental solutions. This engaging event was a key part of our School Tree Day celebrations, aimed at fostering environmental awareness and activism among our students. 🌳 🍃 💚

The webinar featured an impressive line-up of speakers who brought a wealth of knowledge and passion to the discussion. Moderated by Anton De Ionno, ACMI’s Community Coordinator and former Triple J presenter, the session was both informative and entertaining. We were also thrilled to have Maree Lowes, popularly known as Dirt Girl, STTOP’s host and YouTuber Mat McKenna, and CEO of Planet Ark, Rebecca Gilling, among other notable environmental advocates.

Throughout the session, students actively engaged by submitting their questions via Zoom chat. The discussion covered a wide range of topics related to tackling environmental issues such as pollution and climate change. From the intricacies of policy design to simple, personal actions that can make a significant difference, our students gained valuable insights into the multifaceted approach required to address these critical challenges.

The enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by our Year 9 students were truly inspiring. They demonstrated a keen understanding of the importance of environmental stewardship and the role they can play in creating a sustainable future. By participating in events like this, we aim to empower our students to become informed and proactive citizens who contribute positively to our planet’s well-being.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the speakers for sharing their expertise and to our students for their enthusiastic participation. Together, we can make a difference and build a greener, healthier world for future generations.
