Lucinda received her early training in Sydney with Janece Graham and Tanya Pearson before winning a Prix de Lausanne scholarship at The Royal Ballet School, London. In 1991 Lucinda joined The Australian Ballet and was promoted to Principal Artist in 2002, touring internationally with the company. A diverse and musical dancer with a strong technique, Lucinda excelled in the pure classical ballets and enjoyed portraying characters in story ballets, as well as the physicality of contemporary pieces. In addition to roles in all of the major classical ballets such as Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and Coppélia – a particular career highlight for Lucinda was dancing the world premiere of Stanton Welch’s The Sleeping Beauty; and dancing Firebird and Nutcracker – The Story of Clara. Other highlights include lead roles in contemporary works by Christopher Wheeldon, Jiří Kylián, Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, Nicolo Fonte and Stephen Baynes. Lucinda has won awards including the Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer for her performance in The Australian Ballet’s Manon; and the Green Room Award for Best Female Dancer. Nominations have included Helpmann Awards; and Mo Awards – to name just a few. As Australia’s longest-serving ballerina, Lucinda announced her retirement in 2014 and received a Medal of the Order of Australia for her service to the performing arts. That same year, she was appointed as the Artistic Director of the Tanya Pearson Academy and the Sydney City Ballet.

Daniel Gaudiello began dancing at the age of six at the Johnny Young Talent School, then at Promenade Dance Academy. Later he completed studies with the Queensland Dance School of Excellence and Queensland Ballet’s professional year before being accepted into The Australian Ballet School, where he participated as an exchange student with The National Ballet School of Canada and the School of American Ballet in New York. Daniel joined The Australian Ballet in 2004 and made his choreographic debut in Bodytorque. He also danced in To the Pointe, South of Eden and Tristan and Isolde. Daniel was promoted to Principal Artist in 2010. Daniel’s principal roles with The Australian Ballet have included both Des Grieux and Lescaut in Manon, Basilio in Rudolf Nureyev’s production of Don Quixote, the lead role in Petrouchka, the Prince in Cinderella, Siegfried in Swan Lake, Franz in Coppélia and works by Christopher Wheeldon and Jiří Kylián. As a guest artist, he has appeared with Houston Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, New Zealand Ballet, Queensland Ballet, West Australian Ballet and English National Ballet. He was the recipient of the 2011 Australian Dance Award for outstanding performance by a male dancer in Coppélia, a Green Room Award and was nominated for three Helpmann Awards for most outstanding male dancer. Recently Daniel has co-produced and choreographed his first feature film, The red shoes – the next step, premiering this year.
