ARTEXPRESS 24 Nomination

After having students being nominated for consideration to OnStage for acting, Encore for music performance and CallBack for dancing, there is yet another amazing nomination taking place, this time to Year 12 student Alfio Cavallaro, who is being considered for ARTEXPRESS 2024 for his HSC Body of Work titled ‘Eyes Wide Shut: Unveiling Society’s Underbelly’ – a series of drypoint etchings developed from his trip to New York, during the Winter school break.

The works are phenomenal, so it does not come as a shock that Alfio’s work has been selected.

For those unfamiliar with ARTEXPRESS, it is an exhibition held by the Art Gallery of New South Wales featuring a selection of outstanding student artworks developed for the art-making component of the HSC examination in Visual Arts. Hosted in the historic South Building of the Art Gallery of New South Wales for the last 40 years, the exhibition encompasses a diverse array of artistic approaches and expressive forms.

Needless to say, we are extremely proud of the artworks put together by Alfio and this massive achievement. Congratulations! We will make sure to keep an eye open for the exhibition!
