Learning from mother nature
It has been great to take our students out on excursions this year since the lifting of COVID restrictions, and Science has taken advantage of this in Term 2. We started the term with an excursion to Taronga Zoo with Year 7 and 8 students. Year 7’s goal was to enhance their understanding of adaptations and classification of animals, and Year 8 used the time to collect data and make observations about their favourite animal, to develop and test a hypothesis.
Year 11 Biology went on a field trip to Long Reef, where they explored firsthand ecosystem diversity and completed a case study on one of the organisms they encountered on the rock platform.
Year 10 students have now had the opportunity to experience all three Sciences this year (Chemistry, Physics and Biology) in their lessons to make informed choices for their subject selection next year.
