Mark Your Calendars! Five Outstanding Productions Coming to The McDonald College in Term 2.
Get ready for a theatrical treat! The McDonald College Acting and Musical Theatre Streams have been buzzing with activity this term, and five fantastic productions are currently on the way. Here’s your chance to witness the talent of our aspiring actors across all age groups:
1. Stupid F@&king Bird (Senior Acting Production):
- Dates: 28-30 May 2024
- Venue: Blackbox Theatre (The McDonald College Campus)
- Description: This exciting adaptation of Chekhov’s classic “The Seagull” promises an innovative and captivating theatrical experience. Our senior actors, guided by Ms. Romy Bartz, will bring this fresh take to life on stage.
2. A Chorus Line (Senior Musical Theatre Production)
- Dates: 6-8 June 2024
- Venue: Fraser Auditorium (The McDonald College Campus)
- Description: Despite its dense and complex material, our talented students are crafting captivating characters and embracing the challenges of this epic show. Meeting with legends like Priscilla Lopez and Scott Faris has enriched their understanding of the show’s creation and the era it portrays. We’re thrilled to showcase their hard work and talent in June.
3. Peach Tree Smash Cut (Junior Acting Production):
- Dates: 12-13 June 2024
- Venue: Blackbox Theatre (The McDonald College Campus)
- Description: This brand-new Australian work, written and directed by our very own Mr. Alex Lee-Rekers, has generated a lot of excitement. Be among the first to witness the exceptional work of our junior actors in this highly anticipated production.
4. Noises Off (Senior Acting Production):
- Dates: 19-22 June 2024
- Venue: Fraser Auditorium (The McDonald College Campus)
- Description: Prepare to laugh out loud! Mr. Friend’s production of Noises Off, consistently ranked among the top comedies of all time, promises a hilarious and fast-paced experience similar to “The Play That Goes Wrong.” Our senior actors relish the challenge and are guaranteed to unleash their comedic talents.
5. The Kids Who Fell into the Book (Junior Acting Production):
- Dates: 30-31 July 2024
- Venue: Blackbox Theatre (The McDonald College Campus)
- Directors: Co-directed by Romy Bartz and Alex Lee-Rekers
- Description: It’s always a joy to witness the creativity and enthusiasm of our youngest actors. This charming production will leave you feeling inspired and optimistic about the future of theatre.
