Our Students’ Earthshot Solutions
Our Year 10 Science and Geography students have recently embarked on an inspiring journey, collaborating in teams to create innovative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Inspired by Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, our students explored a range of environmental issues and proposed creative solutions.
During our Earthshot conference, students presented their ideas to their peers and teachers. Some students investigated the harmful effects of oxybenzone, a chemical found in sunscreen, on coral reefs. Others explored the potential of harnessing the body’s own heat energy, while others proposed planting more native plants to enhance the College’s biodiversity.
Ultimately, the winning team, comprising Ali Bokari, Noah Hylkema, and Iz Sauran, presented their groundbreaking idea of “Green Gyms.” This innovative concept focuses on using exercise routines to generate energy rather than consuming it.
We are incredibly proud of our students’ creativity, critical thinking, and passion for environmental sustainability. Their innovative ideas and commitment to a greener future inspire us all.
