The Principal’s Reflection on 2024’s Term 2
It feels like Term 1 came to an end just the other day, and yet here we are, at the end of Term 2; and what a term it has been!
Our students have produced a number of wonderful performances, including the two hilarious productions by our Senior Acting stream: Stupid F***ing Bird and Noises Off. Both productions required comic timing and close teamwork from our actors, who did not fail to deliver.
Our Junior Actors kept their audiences laughing during Peach Tree Smash Cut. This play was specifically written for the cast and directed by Alex Lee-Rekers. Again, wonderfully executed by our Years 7 – 9 students.
The Music Stream produced multiple performances including two Junior and two Senior Showcases, the last of which was held at Doltone House at Jones Bay Wharf. This was a bittersweet moment for the Year 12 Music parents as they lamented their last Showcase. All the students certainly made their voices heard and their talents obvious. Not to be out done by the Seniors, our Junior School students presented their charming rendition of some well-known classics that kept the audience toe tapping and smiling.
Our Musical Theatre Stream presented an outstanding production of A Chorus Line. This was a breathtaking performance, full of challenges – complex choreography and lyrics. A performance thoroughly enjoyed by the cast and the audiences.
Our Dancers enjoyed outstanding success during the recent Eisteddfod season, and the same can be said about our Tennis players, some of whom will be playing on European courts over the next few weeks.
Academically, our students have been kept extremely busy, especially as the seniors learn the important skills of time management. As an extension of their classroom learning across year levels, students have been on multiple events, including Debating Camp for Years 5 and 6, Athletics Carnival, and excursions for Science, Biology, History, Visual Arts, PDHPE, the Writer’s Festival and more.
I take this opportunity to thank our families for their support at performances. Of course, our teachers must be commended for their commitment to the students too.
To our Year 12 students – the coming 3 weeks must be spent preparing for the upcoming Trial HSC examinations and on the completion of their practical works.
Parents, please ensure that your student achieves the balance between study and leisure.
Finally, thank you to P & F for providing a delicious BBQ for students and staff on the last day of term. The BBQ was manned by: Clair and Harvey Sauran and their daughter Lily, (Year 12) Kasia Lavorato (7), Gwen Richetti (5), Chelsee Burnett (K) and Year 12 student Genevieve Cesarano.
Stay safe, stay warm and take the time to appreciate the wonderful country we live in.
