The Principal’s Reflection on 2024’s Term 3
High Performance Season
Congratulations to our amazing performing arts students. Their performances were outstanding – from Starburst to Junior Showcase to Senior Showcase. All performers burst onto the stage with such enthusiasm, energy and love of entertaining the audience. The abilities shone through from beginning to end.
Of course, these performances would not have been possible without the training and inspiration of our performing arts staff. Their dedication and determination was clear in every item. Adding to the performances were the many colourful and carefully chosen costumes, the lighting and sound and the production qualities complimenting each item.
For fear of missing someone, I extend my gratitude and thanks to everyone involved – back of house, front of house and on the stage. Thank you.
Graduation Ceremony
Today, we recognised and farewelled the Class of ’24 at our Graduation Ceremony held in the Fraser Auditorium. The day began with a breakfast in the Canteen, then on to the Ceremony, followed by Year 11 hosting the Year 12 lunch in the Fraser Rehearsal room.
The Ceremony was a very special moment for parents and family to enjoy and to be proud of their student as they finish secondary school.
On Sunday, the Graduation Ball will be held at Doltone House. This is another chance for the parents to share the formal, McDonald traditional recognition of our, soon to be, graduates.
Resources for parents from ‘Education Daily’
I share this resource with you as a guide and reminder of the importance of having conversations with our young people about bullying and why kindness matters.
Sally Sweeney, Head of Dolly’s Dream, says “parents recognise the importance of teaching their children about bullying and cyber safety, but they often feel uncertain about how to approach it”.
“Over the last six years, Dolly’s Dream has been working to change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying through education and direct support for young people and their families.”
Dolly’s Dream offers a range of resources and support options to guide you.
Supporting a child who is being bullied can be difficult and overwhelming. If you need immediate support, contact the Dolly’s Dream Support Line on 0488 881 033 – free and available 24/7
“Our [Dolly’s Dream] free Beacon Cyber Safety App is a practical tool to help manage technology use and the Dolly’s Dream Parent Hub pulls together all the latest information about bullying and online safety to help educate young people and their families.”
We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, October 14 – in summer uniform. The Uniform Shop will be open in the second week of the holidays between 9.00 – 3.30pm.
Happy holidays to our McDonald community,
