From School Captain to NYU Acceptance
We are thrilled to announce that our 2024 School Captain and graduate, Emma, has been accepted into the acclaimed New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts! A school whose notable alumni include such household names as Stephen Spielberg, Lady Gaga, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Idina Menzel, Anne Hathaway and many others. This is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to Emma’s hard work and dedication.
Acceptance into NYU is no small feat. Emma had to submit a comprehensive application, including essays, academic records such as her ATAR and HSC marks, details of her extracurricular activities and awards, as well as a dance audition, two songs, two monologues, and an interview. Her perseverance and talent have truly paid off.
In Emma’s own words:
“Being accepted into NYU Tisch is an incredible honour and a dream come true. I feel so grateful for this offer, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my teachers and mentors from The McDonald College. The opportunities that the college provided me in academic, performing arts, and leadership areas have played a significant role in fostering my holistic growth. It was the culmination of these areas of growth that enabled me to achieve my goal of attending NYU, a goal I wanted to achieve since arriving at the College in 2020.”
Emma’s story is an inspiration to all students, showing that with dedication and support, dreams can indeed come true. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her at NYU.
Congratulations, Emma! 🎉
“I think it could also be important for students to know that they can be passionate and successful in both academics and performing arts. I feel like there’s an unspoken stereotype that you have to choose one or the other, but it’s just not the case. I’m choosing what other major to do alongside musical theatre and at this stage I’m looking at journalism, communicative science and disorders, psychology, and media culture and communications. How fortunate am I to be able to choose any academic degree alongside studying PA? It’s just insane!”
