Rhythmic Gymnastics at The McDonald College in 2022
Rhythmic Gymnastics is a sport adored around the world for its grace and elegance. Gymnasts perform technical routines choreographed to music. Each routine is carefully composed to showcase specific movements, combined with a sequence of skills using ropes, hoops, balls, clubs, and ribbons.
This Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport is technical, disciplined, creative, and athletic. It recognises synergies between ballet, dance, and rhythmic gymnastics.
In partnership with Rhythmic Academy of Sydney, we are excited to now offer this sport as part of our suite of performance programs. All gymnastics will be overseen by the Academy’s founding Director and Head Coach, Ms Lauren Klemt. Lauren has competed and studied all over the world, most notably under nine-time World Champion, Olena Vitrychenko in Chicago.
“We are completely delighted to partner with The McDonald College and to be able to offer our students this integrated program. This is a truly innovative pathway in Australia. There’s nothing else like it.
Our Rhythmic Academy gymnasts achieved some remarkable results including a gold medal for the Sub Junior NSW Team and an individual Bronze medal in Ball. We are now back in the gym, setting personal goals, selecting music, and planning routines for the 2022 season.”
Classes will be conveniently based at Netball Central at Sydney Olympic Park. Students will have access to an extensive range of competition pathways, including school and club competitions, inter-club, state, national and international tournaments and as with our Elite Tennis program, students will not be sacrificing their education for their passion.
