Principal’s Welcome
Well that’s a wrap for 2019! The class of ’19 has been set free to make their mark on the world in whichever way they so desire. They have the resources to follow their passions and I hope they have the resilience and confidence to ‘think big’.
With academic exams complete, High Performance Season over and the Australian Schools Tennis Championships finished along with all our 2019 events, it is now time to turn our minds, with a sense of excitement, to 2020.
I am thrilled to announce that the College Council have agreed that the College will return to be a K – 12 school. In 2021, we will enrol Kindergarten students, growing to a full Infants Department (K – 2) by 2023. These youngest students will make our community complete. This year we graduated six students who began at the College in either Pre-School or Kindergarten in 2006 and 2007. Just think, the Kindy students enrolling in 2021 will graduate in 2033!
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the P & F and the support of our parents who have attended functions, turned sausages and organised raffle tickets this year. As a result of these efforts, we plan to renovate the bathroom facilities in Tech House in 2020. This much needed renovation was the most mentioned improvement suggested in the recent Perspectives survey completed by our community. Thank you to everyone who submitted their feedback.
It is pleasing to see so many of our 2019 HSC students nominated for their exemplary practical works in every practical subject. Congratulations to everyone concerned – please see the full list later in this publication. I especially recognise two students who have had their works taken through to exhibition:
OnStage
- Ash Hodgkinson for his work What’s Wrong With You? has been accepted for OnStage, the exemplary works performance for HSC Drama at the Seymour Centre in 2020
- Courtney Lapka will have her artwork Fractured Paradise hung at The Armory at Sydney Olympic Park as part of the exemplary HSC Art works – ARTEXPRESS
I take this opportunity to wish our community a safe and peaceful festive season and I look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2020 McDonald year in January, along with our intake of new families. Merry Christmas to you all.
