Alum | Meg Mac
ARIA chart-topping singer-songwriter, Meg Mac
Megan McInerney is known by her stage name Meg Mac. Meg was one of five siblings to study at The McDonald College, including her talented sister, Hannah, with whom she shares the stage when on tour.
Unsurprisingly, Meg chose to specialise in Music at the College. After graduating, Meg moved to Perth to study music at WAAPA.
Meg’s music is characterised by her soulful vocals and a blend of pop and soul influences. Her lyrics often explore themes of self-discovery, empowerment, and personal experiences.
After her degree, she recorded her single ‘Known Better’. She submitted it to Triple J’s Unearthed program. The single received significant attention and launched her musical career. She was the Unearthed Featured Artist of the Week in 2013 and Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2014.
Mac enjoyed a breakthrough with her platinum-certified debut self-titled EP which featured the popular single ‘Roll Up Your Sleeves.’ The album earned her ARIA Award nominations for Best Female Artist and Breakthrough Artist Of The Year.
Her 2017 debut full-length album, Low Blows peaked at No. 2. She raked in several awards that year, including Best Australian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
She followed up with her album Hope in 2019 and, in 2022 Matter of Time which debuted at No 1 in the ARIA Top 50 Albums – an incredible achievement.
Meg Mac’s evocative performances have earned her a dedicated fan base in Australia and internationally. She continues to tour and perform at various music festivals and major venues, entrancing audiences with her powerful live performances.
She sold out her first performance at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid 2022 and we are excited about her return to Splendour in the Grass this July.
